ALONG THE MEADOW

About

hello! I’m Melissa

herbalist + mother

My journey with herbalism began at a young age after receiving a book on how to create handmade herbal products, I was instantly enamored by the thought of creating something from plants and I still am today! My interest in herbs was made stronger when I became a mother and we walked through some health struggles in our home. That is ultimately what lead me to change our family’s lifestyle and start studying herbalism.

Because I also have a desire to educate others about herbs in 2021 I released my family herbalist course called herb school. It’s a practical approach to herbalism containing helpful information and guides for how to use herbs in your home. It’s what I wish I had had when I first started out and what I want to pass down to my children one day when they start their own families.

My apothecary shop is another passion of mine where you can find some of my favorite herbal teas, DIY kits and handmade herbal remedies. Occasionally I stock things that I love in our home like beeswax candles or non-toxic finger paint for kids.

For free natural living content be sure to check out the blog or subscribe to the newsletter to get notes from me straight to your inbox.

These are a few of my favorite things…

  1. Daily walks are a must for me. Rain or shine I have to walk everyday to move my body and clear my head.
  2. Homeschooling my 3 kids and reading lots of great books together. I love good children’s literature!
  3. Overnight Oatstraw tea. It has become an obsession! I drink it over ice with a little honey and lemon daily. It’s one of the easiest ways to hit the reset button on your nervous system.
  4. Getting our food from local farmers. I have a passion for cooking with quality ingredients for my family. Once you try raw milk, farm fresh eggs, seasonal veggies and grass-fed meat you can’t go back.

It can help support the immune system, reduce inflammation, increase blood circulation and detox the body by inducing a sweat. 💦 I always keep extra ginger in my freezer for when I need it!
