I can’t talk about corn without my mind going to I can’t talk about corn without my mind going to my Grandmother’s farmhouse in Illinois. It was my happy place and where I fell in love with nature. It was slow simple living at it’s best.

I’d give anything to spend another summer there as a kid. To spend the day taking a long walk down Route 66 with my sister then gathering corn from the field and shucking it for dinner, having a cup of tea with my Grandma while playing cards and sleeping with the windows open because those old farmhouses can sure get hot in the summer! I’ll treasure that time there in my heart forever. ❤️
Don’t throw away those corn silks!!! 🌽 Turn t Don’t throw away those corn silks!!! 🌽 Turn them into tea instead! Corn silks are wonderful for all things bladder and urinary system related. They have a diuretic, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect on the body with a cooling energy that can balance excess heat. I love that it is a useful plant ally to people of all ages and stages of life!

One ear of corn will give you enough silks for 2-3 cups of tea and if you are dealing with an acute issue such as a urinary tract infection or kidney stones it’s recommended to drink one cup 3x a day. Corn silk can be dried to keep for future use or made into a tincture.

It has a very mild sweet flavor and like pine needles tea a squeeze of an orange slice or some honey can help elevate the taste. Have you ever tried Corn silk tea before? 🌽 🫖
