Pour 2 cups of filtered water and all ingredients in bag to a boil. Reduce to low, cover and gently simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Let cool. Strain ingredients (cheesecloth is helpful for this). Make sure to press out all juice from ingredients. Add 4 ounces of honey (for ages 1+) or maple syrup. Refrigerate and shake well before using.
(ages 1-3) 1/2 tsp daily or 3x a day during illness
(ages 4-18) 1 tsp daily or 3x a day during illness
(ages 19+) 1 Tblsp daily or 3x a day during illness
